St Anne's G.C
29th of June

We had another excellent turnout, with 29 golfers taking part, including 10 of our retired colleagues. It was particularly encouraging to see many new and younger faces, the future definitely looks bright for the Red Barons.
The weather was warm with light, calm winds, and the links course at St. Anne’s was in great condition. The fairways were firm and provided plenty of roll, making for some excellent scoring and an enjoyable day of golf.
Congratulations to Capt. Darren Bolton, who took home the Capt. Gerry Headon Trophy with an excellent 37 points. Retired Capt. Keith Reid finished runner-up on 36 points, taking second place on a count back, with Capt. Dean Rogers also scoring 36 points to finish third.
Dean had been the clubhouse leader for much of the day and, having won the previous two outings, he was certainly on a rich vein of form. However he remains 2 down 3 to go with his stated ambition of getting his name on all five of the Red Barons trophies.

The Squabbit app worked very well again. We are now officially completely paperless, much like the cockpit! The live scoring made it easy for everyone to keep an eye on the leaderboard and added a bit of extra excitement as the scores came in.
Following the informal dinner and prize giving, some of the more dedicated Red Barons continued their celebrations in the Ivy Bar, Drumcondra, where an excellent night was had by all.
A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make another Red Barons outing such a memorable occasion. The camaraderie, competitive spirit and good humour throughout the day are what make the Red Barons such a great success.
