Captain Ronan Collins Memorial Trophy

On Tuesday May 3rd we held our annual Red Barons, Captain Ronan Collins memorial
tournament at Killeen Castle Golf Club. Ronan was a great lover of golf and the Red Barons competitions, he was a great colleague and friend to many. It is fantastic that his memory lives on through this memorial tournament and trophy. The weather again was kind and that combined with the glorious condition of the golf course lead to some great scoring.
We again had another great turnout with 41 golfers taking part including 9 of our retired colleagues.

Well done to all the prize winners and especially to Captain Keith Reid who won the Captain
Ronan Collins Memorial Cup, a Driver and framed photograph of the the Airbus 320 flying in
formation with the Patrouille Suisse, he joins an illustrious group to have their names engraved on the trophy!
We had the great pleasure of welcoming Ronan’s family to our post golf dinner with 40 in
attendance. After dinner Adam, Ronan’s son and Emily, Ronan’s daughter presented the prizes
and Emily gave a very nice speech about Ronan.
Thanks to all our golfers and indeed the non golfers for making it such a memorable day and we look forward to seeing you all at our next Red Barons outing at Carton House on July 12th.
The Pat McNamara Fireball Trophy
Congratulations to F/O Wilson Greenlee, this years winner of the Pat McNamara Fireball Trophy.
The final of the Fireball was played in Portmarnock Golf Club on Friday, April 29th between
Captain Andrew Tisdall and F/O Wilson Greenlee. It was a tight affair with Wilson taking the early
lead, 1 up through 3 however by the 5th it was all square and starting the back nine Andrew was 1
up. Some superb golf then followed which included Wilson chipping in twice and the match was
won on the 16th green, Wilson winning 3 and 2.
Slieve Russell Hotel Golf and Country Club, Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th September
Our Slieve Russell Overnight is planned for September 12th/13th and includes one night bed and breakfast, one evening meal and two rounds of golf.
